Monday 1st October 2018
Next half term our enquiry question will be: Why did the Vikings invade Britain? To stimulate and engage the children, we will be holding an in-school Viking Day to begin the topic on Tuesday 30th October. We are using a company (Portals to the Past) to support us with this; they provide a series of workshops that will really bring this fascinating period of history to life for the children! Their website tells us: This hugely popular Viking workshop covers everything from home-life to battles, Gods and how to have fun, Viking-style.
To add to the authenticity of the day we would like all the children to arrive at school wearing a simple Viking outfit. Suggestions for costumes can be found on the reverse of this letter.
This activity will take place during normal school hours and your child can follow their usual lunchtime routine. There will be no cost to parents as school will be covering this activity from our fundraising (such as school discos).
Participation in this activity is dependent on good behaviour during normal school and if this is not up to the standard expected of all our pupils, they will not be able to take part.
If you have any queries, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support.
