Enquiry Curriculum:

Our new enquiry curriculum poses a key question every half term for pupils to investigate. This term the question is ‘How is climate change affecting the World?’. This cross-curricular question will encompass key learning objectives and skills in English, Art and Humanities. In addition, the children will use ICT to support their research and present their work.

PE kits must always be in school. Please ensure your child has a school PE T-shirt, black shorts and trainers for outdoor PE.

Water bottles should be brought in every day and children can drink throughout the day, they can be refilled in school. If children do not have a bottle, the water fountains can be used at break or lunch times.

Homework and Weekly timetable:

  • Reading: 5 times per week recorded in diary and signed by parent. Diaries checked on a Monday.

  • Spelling: Weekly spelling activity based on spelling list (10 words to learn). Set on a Monday and tested on a Friday. Additional random spellings may be tested as well based on spelling rules from previous weeks.

  • English/Maths: One per week alternating. Set on a Friday and due on a Wednesday.

  • Project Task/Homework Menu: range of optional tasks for children to choose from.

Please support your child with their personal organisation so that homework is completed and handed in on time.

Appointments with teachers – If you need to speak to either of us, we will be available for 10 minutes at the end of the day, except Wednesdays, this is our scheduled staff meeting day. Please be aware that staff will be supervising children as they enter the classrooms in the mornings so will be unable to talk to you in detail at this stage. You are, of course, welcome to take any concerns to the office. After school, longer meetings can take place but we ask you to make an appointment. This is because after school we do have regular commitments involving meetings/clubs so cannot always guarantee you focused time.

School Web Site – Please check this regularly for updates of school news, diary dates and homework. Please update the office if you change address or phone number as many updates do come via text.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

Kind Regards,

Miss Dobner and Mr Hayward
