The children who were successful in joining Film Club have been notified and we met for the first time this week and have begun watching The Cat Returns, a spectacular animated journey to a world of magic and adventure.
Haru, a schoolgirl bored by her ordinary routine, saves the life of an unusual cat, and suddenly her world is transformed beyond anything she ever imagined. The Cat King rewards her good deed with a flurry of presents, including a very shocking proposal of marriage to his son! Haru embarks on an unexpected journey to the Kingdom of Cats where her eyes are opened to a whole other world and her destiny is uncertain. To change her fate she'll need to learn to believe in herself and, in the process, she will learn to appreciate her everyday life..
The dates for this half term are:
Wednesday 4th November
Wednesday 11th November
Wednesday 18th November
Wednesday 25th November
Wednesday 2nd December
Wednesday 9th December
The club begins straight after school and runs until 4pm.
Children are bought down to Marlow Rd foyer to be collected.
It is a good idea to have a snack and a small drink as the children are often a bit peckish after a full day at school. They may bring a piece of fruit or a cereal bar if they wish. No sweets, chocolate, popcorn, etc!
If you have any questions, please contact me at school.
If you enjoy films, then this is the club for you. I'll be announcing when Film Club will be restarting very soon so watch out for the letter in the next few weeks.
I'm not sure which year groups to open it up to...so if you are interested, why not find me and tell me?
Once you have been coming for a few weeks, you'll be invited to join the on-line Film Club, where you will be able to write film reviews and message me with ideas for future viewings.
Last year, we watched a range of different films including ET and The Iron Giant. Here are two reviews written by members of Film Club and shown on the website:
'at the moment this film is really awesome and when we paused it i saw a bullet bouncing off the iron giant!!!!!'
'I absolutely loved it! Very sad at times like when the hunters shot the bear, hunters killed the dog when it was hurt, when the baby bears mom died's at the beginning and also when the horse's were in pain. But the rest of the film was fabulous. My favourite part of the film was when the dad bear was teaching the baby bear to hunt for food because it was realy helpful of him as well as that the baby bears mum just died so that was what made it even more helpful. The other part I enjoyed was when one of the hunters was going to shoot the bear but then he thought of when the bear had ready to kill him but instead he walked away'
See you soon maybe? From Mrs Fountain
