Platforms for Home Learning/Blended Learning
I hope this letter finds you well. We’re determined to keep all of our children on-track this year and make sure no one falls behind if they need to learn from home because of coronavirus. We are continuing to refine our practice and are developing new ways of enhancing our remote learning provision, should children/families/teachers have to isolate for 14 days in the event of a positive coronavirus test or if there is a local lockdown. Therefore, for the academic year 2020/2021, Years 3-6 will be using - ‘Google Classrooms’ and Nursery to Year 2 - ‘Tapestry’.
Over the next few weeks children in KS2 (Y3-Y6) will be provided with a log in. Teachers will show the children how google classrooms works, and how the children can access work from home and explain how to complete and upload their homework. It is really important that parents monitor the children’s learning and try to support them with this new technology. Help sheets will be added to the school website.
All parents in KS1 should be familiar with ‘Tapestry’ as we have been using this platform in Nursery and Reception for the last 5 years. We have decided to extend Tapestry to Year 2 so that parents can continue to see the great learning that is happening in school and to continue to upload homework and photographs. We will be using this to add weekly spellings (Y1 and Y2 only) throughout the year.
Please can I remind everyone that these platforms are for comments about learning only and we will be following our online safety acceptable use policy at all times. If you have any queries or concerns about this new technology please contact the school in the usual way: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your continued support,
