04-01-2021 Spring Term Opening

4th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

I trust you have had a good break in these challenging times and enjoyed some family time. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their holiday to be part of the school and community Coronavirus testing, this was very reassuring to know that the school community supports our efforts to keep everyone as safe possible. By completing this testing, it has helped us to identify asymptomatic cases and lessen the spread of Coronavirus.  If you are still waiting for your family test results to return, please do not the send your children back to school until a negative test has been confirmed for everyone who has taken a test.

I am sure you are aware there has been lots of media coverage about schools and the fact that high schools have delayed their opening. You may also be aware that the government has put in place an education contingency framework which affects the closure of some primary schools in some tier four areas. In Suffolk we are not currently subject to this contingency framework and so look forward to welcoming our pupils back to school, as planned on Tuesday 5th January.

As we prepare for the new term, we have revisited our risk assessment which can be found on our school website https://www.whcps.org/covid-19-risk-assessments.  When the children return we will go over some of the key practices with them which makes our school as safe as possible, such as regular hand washing, remaining in class bubbles (with the same group of children) and social distancing.  Please can we ask that parents/carers continue to wear face coverings on the school site and ensure that you stay 2 metres away from all school staff, as they are unable to talk to you. Please email parents@whcps.org if you would like to arrange a meeting or if you would like to pass on a message.

The pandemic means we are in a constantly changing situation. Rest assured we will continually monitor and adapt plans in light of any changes to Public Health guidance and if we need to close bubbles or the school, we will provide you with as much notice as we are able to.

I look forward to welcoming the children back to school and thank you for your continued support.

With kind regards
