As part of our current science topic Year 4 have been learning about teeth. This has included learning the names and functions of different teeth and investigating tooth decay.
Next week, we will be conducting a science experiment where we will use plaque disclosing tablets to identify areas on our teeth that have collected plaque during the day. This will teach us which areas of our mouths are more difficult to reach with a toothbrush.
The ingredients of the plaque disclosing tablets are: Hydrated dextrates, Magnesium Stearate, Sodium starch glycolate, Aroma (flavour) CI 42090 (blue 1) CI 45410 (red 28).
Please let your child’s class teacher know if you have any concerns, questions or if you do not wish your child to take part in this part of the lesson.
We will be providing new toothbrushes for this investigation. However, if your child prefers to use their own toothbrush, they may bring it into school for that day. Rabbits and badgers will be learning science on Wednesday. Owls will learn science on Thursday.
I’m sure all the children will have great fun learning about where the plaque is in their mouths!
Thank you for your continued support,
Year 4 teachers
