19-01-2021 KS2 Online Learning Update

19th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers of children in KS2,

Thank you for your understanding and patience with Google Classroom. We have been very impressed with the effort that the children have put into their work and the support you have provided so that they can complete their work, we know this is not always easy.  Now that more children have access to technology, can log in to Google Classroom, upload work and are increasing in confidence, we are planning to move to a more structured weekly timetable that includes live lessons. This will ensure that the children have increased opportunities to engage with their teacher and peers in a virtual class.

We have given the timetable considerable thought as we are aware that some families have children in various year groups and only have access to one computer/iPad, therefore we have planned our live lessons to support this. Each year group will have a set time for their live lessons, so that families can organise their time (the full timetable will be shared with families on Friday when we know that the live lessons can be accessed successfully). As well as live lessons, we will also continue adding recorded lessons to Google Classroom to complement the learning outlined on the home learning menus created weekly. More information about our school remote learning offer can be found on our website:

Please can we ask that you read the information about connecting to the live lessons in advance of the first scheduled lesson on Friday 22nd January (information will be added to the website and Google Classroom for you to read). During this first lesson, the teacher will explain the ‘live lesson expectations’ and ensure all the children are able to access this in preparation for lessons the following week.

Friday 22nd January

9.00 – 9.45

9.45 – 10.30

10.30 – 11.15

11.15 – 12.00

If you have any questions about the live lessons and expectations, this can be discussed with the teacher at the learning review meetings on Wednesday 20th January or please email and someone from school will contact you.

We do hope that the children will all be able to successfully join the live lessons on Friday.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Hall
