Earth day 2021

 

Let's celebrate Earth day 22nd April 2021! 

 

Follow the link to find lots of different ways to celebrate with us this year. 

 

 

Our Geography Learning - Summer 1

 

This term some year groups have linked their Enquiry question to a Geography topic. 

 

Year 1 - What continents and oceans make up our world? Children will investigate the different continents and oceans around the world. 

 

Year 2 - Where does my food come from? Children will look at where different food is grown around the world and how it ends up on our plates. 

 

Year 4 - Where are the rainforests and deserts around the world and why are they there? Children will look at where the areas are located on the globe and why. 

 

Year 5 - How is climate change affecting this world? Children will look at what climate change is and what it is affecting around the world. 

 

Year 6 - What are the US states like and how do they vary? Children will investigate the different US states and look at the similarities and differences. 

Our Geography Learning - Spring 2

 

This term some year groups have linked their Enquiry question to a Geography topic. 

 

Year 2 - How do animal habitats differ around the world? Children will investigate different animals around the world and look at where they live and why. 

 

Year 3 - Who are our European neighbours? Children will look at other European countries and how they are similar or different to the UK. 

 

Year 4 - Where does my food come from? Children will look where different food is grown around the world and how it goes from farm to plate. 

 

Year 5 - How is Fairtrade fair? Children will investigate what Fairtrade is and why it is fair. 

 

Our Geography Learning - Spring 1

 

This term some year groups have linked their Enquiry question to a Geography topic. 

 

Year 1 - How does the weather change during the year? Children will look at different weather over the year. 

 

Year 2 - What is it like to live in our local area? Children will look at different features of our local area. 

 

Year 3 - What are maps for? Children will look at different types of map and what they are used for as well as learning how to read them. 

 

 

National Geography Week!

 

It is National Geography week 15th-21st November 2020. 

 

Have a look around your local area - what can you see that reminds you of Geography?

Our Geography Learning - Autumn 2

 

This term some year groups have linked their Enquiry question to a Geography topic. 

 

Year 4 - Why did the Vikings invade? Children will look at where the Vikings came from on a map and where they settled. 

 

Year 5 - Why would a tourist visit modern Greece? Children will look at more detailed maps of Greece, make details maps of Greek Islands and identify the differences in climate and famous landmarks. 

 

Year 6 - How did life change for children during WW2? Children will look at a map of Europe and discuss which countries were involved and where they are located.

Our Geography Learning Autumn 1

 

This term some year groups have linked their Enquiry question to a Geography topic. 

 

Year 1 - Where do we live? Children will look at what maps are, maps of the school and what our local area is like. 

 

Year 2 - What was life like living in a castle? Children will look at castles that are located close to where we live. 

 

Year 4 - Who were the Anglo Saxons? Children will look at where the Anglo Saxons came from and where they settled. 

 

Year 5 - What was life like in Ancient Greece? Children will be investigating where Greece is and how it is different from where we live.  

 

Year 6 - What effect do natural disasters have on everyday lives? Children will investigate tectonic plates, earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes as well as human impacts on different areas of the world.
