IPSSA & School Games

Implementation of IPSSA & School Games Membership

As a school we are proud members of both the Ipswich Primary School Sports Association (IPSSA) and the Suffolk School Games. Throughout the academic year both IPSSA and the School Games provide schools with competition calendars outlining a vast array of Level 2 competitions that are organised and conducted by the two associations. Level 2 competitions are designed to allow pupils the opportunity to put their skills into practice as they compete against opposing schools.

Level 2 Competitions Entered (2017/18)

A total of 13 Level 2 competitions were attended this year. Additionally, 3 IPSSA leagues were entered in Football (Boys & Girls) and Netball, with a combined total of 22 fixtures being played across the 3 leagues. As a result, a total of 84 individual pupils have proudly represented the school in at least one Level 2 event throughout the year. It’s also important to note that the vast majority of level 2 events offered involve mainly Upper KS2 pupils.

School Games Mark

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.  The School Games Mark also sets out to award schools in recognition for the quality of their PE provision that is offer to pupils. Since 2012 a massive 35,500 School Games Mark applications have been entered. Once submitted, the schools application is automatically graded against that year's School Games Mark criteria. Based upon the criteria and the schools data, successful schools can be awarded with a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum award.
