Geography
We have been studying the countries of the U.K. As well as learning the names of Capital cities, rivers and surrounding seas we have been trying to learn more about the countries through our enquiry curriculum. Today we were trying various Scottish foods such shortbread, oatcakes and cock-a-leekie soup.
Author Day
On Thursday we had a day celebrating our love of reading. Highlight of the day was the visit of Andrew Weale, a successful author of many children's books. He spoke to each class about his life and read a couple of stories.
Mobile Zoo
Year 2 had a fantastic morning learning about a range of wonderful creatures and their habitats. Each class had an hour with the zoo during which they had the opportunity to look at and hold a variety of animals (not the tarantula though!). The ladies running the visit told us many interesting facts about the animals and the children showed their curiosity by asking many questions.
Paralympians Visit
We really enjoyed the visit of two paralympians into our school. Sean Rose and Gianni Frankis spent all day in school talking to us about disability sport. Firstly, we had an inspirational assembly in which Sean told us of his journey to becoming one of the UK's most successful skier. We then had a rigorous work out and in the afternoon tried our hand at some disability sports.
Welcome to Year 2!
There are three classes in Year 2: Frogs, Cobras and Dragons. We have all had a fantastic start to the year and the children are learning lots of different things. These pages will share our learning with you, including challenges and opportunities to practise at home.
Enjoy!
Framlingham Castle Trip
Year 2 had a fantastic day out at Framlingham Castle. The sun was shining and a good time was had by all. We explored the castle walls, walked around the moat and even had time for some archery practice.
