Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 107

Friday 13th September 2019

Message from Mrs Hall

It has been a super week in school. I have shown many visitors around who have all commented on the calm and purposeful atmosphere. The behaviour of the children has been excellent and they are all keen to follow the golden rules: We listen, We are honest, We work hard and We are kind and respectful. So far this term, there have been 50 silvers awarded and 33 golds. This is a fantastic start to the school year. Well done, and keep working hard, everyone.

Parent/Carer Drop-In

If you would like to talk to your child’s class teacher about how they have settled in, have a look at your child’s books or classroom then please pop in next week after school. If your child is in EYFS staff will be available on Monday, KS1 (Y1 and Y2) on Tuesday, LKS2 (Y3 and Y4) on Wednesday and UKS2 (Y5 and Y6) on Thursday.

Assemblies

The theme of our assemblies for next week will be: Democracy: Why is it important to vote?  Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website.  To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

School Photos

We will be having individual School Photos taken on Monday 23rd September, so please ensure the children look their very best.

Reception – Families First

Mrs Gotts will soon be running the popular course ‘Families First’ which will be open to parents/carers of children in Reception.  Watch this space for more details!

Lost Property

At the end of each term we have a large amount of clothes and items which make their way to the lost property area, most of which are never returned to their owners.  Last year alone we donated over 15 bags worth of lost property to a local charity!  Can we please remind parents/carers to ensure all items which come into school, including clothes, packed lunch boxes and bags are all clearly named so we can ensure they do not get lost.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Postbox

A reminder that if you are wanting to return a slip or pay some money at the school office, there is the option of placing these in the red post box on the wall in the reception area.  This will save you time by not having to queue when the office is busy.  There are envelopes and pens on top of the box.  Please put money in an envelope, clearly marked with your child’s name and what the money is for.  The office staff do empty this on a daily basis so it will be picked up quickly.

Year 2 – Framlingham Castle Trip

Our Year 2 classes enjoyed a trip to Framlingham Castle this week.  They had a great day learning what it was like to live in the past.

Flu Immunisations

The School Nursing Team will be coming into school on Friday 15th November as part of the Annual Childhood Flu Immunisation Programme.  The vaccine is given through a nasal spray and is being offered to all children from Reception through to Year 6.  Parents/Carers need to confirm whether they do/do not wish their children to be given the immunisation.  The link to show your consent/non-consent can be found on the following page on our website: https://www.whcps.org/11-09-2019-information-for-parents-on-flu-immunisa/ We would also ask parents/carers to carefully read the information on the website, particularly if their child is asthmatic or cannot eat gelatine.   If you have any questions please contact the Schools Immunisation Programme on 0300 555 5055 or ccs-tr.suffolkimmsteam@nhs.net.

Library Photo Competition – Reading in an Unusual Place

Before the holidays we let you know we needed some new photos to display on our library walls.  We would love to have photos of children reading in unusual places.  If you were able to take any during the summer holidays please send them in to parents@whcps.org by the end of September.  It is still not too late to take a photo!  The best photographs will go on the walls and the overall winners in each phase will win a book prize.

Helpers Needed!

Our Year 5 classes are having a Greek Day on Tuesday 24th September 2019 and we are looking for some parents/grandparents/carers who may be willing to come in and help out. ‘History off the Page’ will be teaching the children how Greeks lived and they will join in a number of fun activities.  This will be followed by a storytelling session and a traditional Greek feast in the afternoon.  If you are able to come and help please speak to one of the Year 5 teachers or Mrs Hall.  Thank you in advance.
