Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 148

Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 148

Friday 26th March 2021

Message from Mrs Hall

Thank you to all our families for your kind donations for Comic Relief last Friday. We raised a super £477.60 – well done everyone. We have continued to be impressed with the effort that all of the children have put into their learning. We now have some wonderful new displays around the school celebrating their achievements. Don’t forget clocks go forward one hour on Saturday 27th March. We do hope that everyone has a lovely (Covid secure) Easter break. School returns on Monday 12th April. Thank you for your continued support.

Attendance for the Previous Week

Class with the Best Attendance – Tigers (98.1%)

Assemblies

The theme of our assembly the week after Easter will be on: Why is education so important to a child?  (UNRC Link: Article 28 I have the right to an education).  Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website.  To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

Purple Man Reading Award

The winners of the award last week were Robins (for the second week running!) and Pandas.  Well done to all of you.

Whitehouse Reading Challenge

There are just two weeks left to complete the Whitehouse Reading Challenge!  All entries must be brought into school by Monday 12th April to receive a certificate and be in with a chance to win a book prize!  Details are on our website: https://www.whcps.org/competitions/

Car Park

We are still having several parents/carers using the car park when dropping children off to Breakfast Club.  Can we please remind you the car park may only be used by staff or parents/carers who hold a blue badge and need to access the disabled parking space.  Please note the blue badge must be displayed whilst parked. We would please ask you to abide by these arrangements so we can keep all pedestrians safe whilst on the school site.

Year 1

Our Year 1 children have enjoyed learning about newspapers this week and are very excited about having the opportunity to write their own newspaper reports all about the Great Fire of London!

Water Bottles

A quick reminder to please ensure that only plastic bottles are sent in to school with the children.  They are not permitted to have glass bottles on the school site.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Covid-19 Cases

Please note if any of our children test positive for Covid-19 over the first weekend of the Easter Holidays, parents/carers are required to inform the school. You can do this by sending an email to parents@whcps.org.  This will enable us to implement the track and trace procedure and ensure any close contacts are identified.  We thank you for your help in this matter.

Covid-19 Testing

In addition, please be aware that as per Government guidance, all parents/carers are entitled to receive lateral flow tests which can be taken at home to identify any non-symptomatic cases of Covid-19.  You can either go along to the Copdock or Portman Road testing sites and request a lateral flow kit or you can order them at the following link: https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests and they will be delivered to your home.  Tests should be completed twice a week, 3 to 4 days apart, and all results must be reported to NHS Track and Trace.  Instructions on how to report the result are in the test kits.

Findings of the Family Survey on Remote Learning

As a Rights Respecting school, we take our commitment very seriously for children to have access to an education (Article 28: UNCRC) at all times and for pupils to have a voice and for it to be heard (Article 12: UNCRC).  With this in mind, we would like to extend a big thank you to all the 180 pupils and parents/carers who recently filled in a questionnaire on Remote Learning at Whitehouse.  All the data has now been analysed and can be found under the following link on our website: https://www.whcps.org/parent-surveys/.

We are very grateful for all the kind comments made and for providing thoughtful suggestions. These will be very valuable in enabling us to improve our provision even further should the need for remote learning arise again in the future.
