Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 147

Friday 19th March 2021

Message from Mrs Hall

We appreciate the cooperation of parents and carers during the drop off and pick up arrangements for all the pupils. During the morning, if your child is in KS2 and they are able to walk to their class on their own please say goodbye to them at the gate as this will alleviate congestion on the paths. A member of staff is present on each of the school gates and playgrounds. At the end of the day, if you see that there are too many people on the path and you are worried, then please wait a few minutes, the teachers will not dismiss the children until an adult is there. Please ensure that you do not block the paths or wait on them. There have been some incidents of swearing on or within the vicinity of the school site, which is unacceptable. Thank you for your continued support.

Attendance for the Previous Week

Class with the Best Attendance – Tigers (100%)

Purple Man Reading Award

The children have been busy with their reading since they returned to school.  The winners of the award last week were Robins and Toucans.  Well done!

Library Books

Thank you to everyone who has returned library books which were taken home before Christmas.  Currently we still have just over 100 books still overdue.  If your child comes home with a letter concerning their book, we would ask you to please have another look as these are all books which will need to be replaced, if they are not returned.  We appreciate your assistance in helping us maintain our library stock and for encouraging your children to take care of their books.

Dinner Money

Thank you to all those parents/carers who are working with us to clear dinner money debt, most of which is from before the lockdowns began.  If you are holding a dinner money debt and are struggling to pay please contact us and we can arrange a payment plan.  A reminder that all dinners should be paid for in advance at the following link: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/schools/school-meals-uniforms-and-trips/school-meals/

Living with Grief

Grief is a topic that affects us all at some point in our lives.  St Elizabeth Hospice are offering LivingGrief sessions to anyone over the age of 18 who has suffered bereavement.  The sessions are virtual and are free of charge. The Hospice are able to support those who have experienced a loss through Covid-19 also.   If you are interested please visit the following link for more information and to book a space: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/livinggrief-sessions-lets-talk-about-grief-tickets-133968295779?aff=erelpanelorg

Mobile Phone Reminder

Can we please remind parents/carers that children should not be using mobile phones whilst on the school site.  If your child walks alone and it is necessary for them to carry a mobile phone for their journey to and from school, please let your child’s class teacher or the office know that this is the case.  If it has been agreed that your child can bring a mobile phone to school it must be switched off at all times and never used to make calls or take photographs whilst on school premises. Children should give their phones to an adult at the start of the school day.  We cannot take responsibility for the loss or damage of mobile devices whilst on school property.

Online Safety

Can we also take this opportunity to remind you about the use of social media and video streaming apps such as TikTok.  The age restriction for TikTok is 13, this is a data protection regulation and is in place to protect your child from harmful content that they may be exposed to and from putting themselves at risk by sharing photos or videos.  No children of primary age should have access to this platform.  Please familiarise yourself with what apps your children are using.  For further information please visit: https://www.net-aware.org.uk/networks/tiktok.
