Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 146

Friday 12th March 2021

Message from Mrs Hall

We are delighted with how quickly the children have settled back into school and engaged with their face-to-face lessons. We are so proud of how they have coped with the many changes they have experienced over the last year. This week we have spent time talking to the children about any worries they may have and we will continue to support their wellbeing and mental health through our curriculum. If your child is experiencing anxiety and may require additional support, parents/carers are able to complete a referral form for the emotional wellbeing hub that can be accessed at: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/suffolk-children-and-young-peoples-emotional-wellbeing-hub/ Thank you for your continued support (and the lovely messages we have received about the support we have offered through this second lockdown).

Children’s Rights at Whitehouse

As part of our Rights Respecting School Bronze journey, pupils had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a number of children’s rights during our Breaking the Mould Day back in November.  Part of the day included a session, where classes had a discussion and agreed which of these rights were most important to them.  All the results have now been collated and we are extremely proud of the choices which our pupils have made as they embody the values which are at the heart of our school community.  These are providing a first-class education, supporting pupils and their families in any way we can, ensuring that all our children stay safe and healthy and that they have the opportunity to develop into assertive, happy, caring and pro-active citizens.

Please note the Summer Term assemblies will focus on the 10 Children’s Rights chosen by the children and that further work on these will follow when we start work on our Silver Award later this year.

Car Park

Can we please remind parents/carers the car park is only for use by staff members. This includes when dropping children off for Breakfast Club, and allows us to ensure children can enter the site safely.  Blue badge holders may make use of the disabled space.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Year 2 Science Work

Our Year 2 children have been busy this week in their science lessons, where they have been investigating micro-habitats and using their prediction skills to decide which habitat would be best for a worm.  During their lesson, they all went outdoors to explore the wildlife and the children had great fun trying to illustrate the habitats in drawing form.
