Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 224

Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 244

Friday 10th March 2023

Message from Mrs Hall

All the children would like to support Red Nose Day on Friday 17th March. Therefore, if they would like to attend school in non-uniform on this day (for a small donation of £1.00) then they are able to do so. Also, don’t forget that short reports have been sent home today. Please check the information carefully and bring the report to discuss at the face to face parents meetings on Wednesday 15th March or Thursday 23rd March.  At the meetings the teachers will be able to discuss your child’s progress and share examples of their current work. If you have been unable to make an appointment please contact the office. Thank you for your continued support.

Attendance for the last week:

Class with the best attendance: Jaguars (99.05%)

Assemblies

The theme of our assemblies for next week will be: What is a Young Carer?  What can we do at Whitehouse to help friends who are Young Carers?  (UNRC Link: Article 9: I have the right to live with my parents, unless it is bad for me). Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website.  To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

Parents/Carers Evening

We are pleased to confirm that the first of our parent/carer evenings will be taking place on Wednesday 15th March 2023 between 3.30pm and 6.00pm.  There will then be a second evening on Thursday 23rd March 2023 with additional appointments.

Instructions have been emailed home to explain how to make an appointment.

The instructions can also be viewed here:   https://www.whcps.org/27-02-2023-parentcarers-evening/. We are particularly pleased that appointments will be returning to face to face for this meeting and hope as many parents/carers as possible will take this opportunity to meet with the teacher to discuss your child’s progress.

Smoking/Vaping

We have had some reports recently of parents/carers who have been vaping on the school site whilst waiting to collect their children.  Can we please remind you that Whitehouse is a non-smoking site and this does include vaping.  We would ask to please ensure that you refrain from vaping until you are outside of the school gates.  Thank you for your support in this matter.

Year 5 Parent/Carer Session – Thank You!

Last week, it was wonderful to welcome so many parents/carers to a Design and Technology lesson in Year 5.  They worked alongside children to evaluate a range of different flavoured flapjacks.  Pupils now have a better idea about what type of tasty bake they would like to make. One parent said, "It's great to have the opportunity to come in and share my child's learning."  Thank you to everyone who attended, the children really enjoyed sharing their learning with you.

Family Breakfast Club

As you will be aware over the last two weeks we have held our first two Family Breakfasts each Monday.  Thank you to all those parents/carers who were able to come along and spend some time with their children and enjoy a simple, free, breakfast.  We have had over 80 people come along which has been just wonderful and made Mrs Gotts very happy!  The Family Breakfasts will continue to happen each Monday, so if you have not yet had the chance then do come along.   It begins at 8.00am and you need to enter school via the Key Stage 1 playground.  On this coming Monday it is open for families who have a child in Nursery, Reception or Years 1 and 2, and the following Monday will be for families with children in Years 3-6.  You are welcome to bring siblings with you and all enjoy breakfast together.
