Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 201

Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 201

Thursday 21st July 2022

Message from Mrs Hall

It has been another busy year and we are all incredibly proud of what the children have achieved. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support and we are all looking forward to what the next academic year brings. We would like to wish our Year 6 children who are heading off to their different High Schools the very best of luck and well done for their amazing performances of ‘Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies’. Have a great summer break; school starts again for the children on Monday 5th September.

Attendance for the previous week

Class with the best attendance: Seahorses (99.2%)

Free School Meal Vouchers

A reminder that each parent/carer whose child is eligible for Free School Meals (due to being in receipt of certain benefits) is entitled to some assistance to support their child over the Summer Holiday.  A £90.00 voucher has been ordered for each child (the equivalent of £15.00 per week) and details sent via an email to parents/carers. Please look out for an email from Edenred, which will contain that link for you to be able to order the voucher for the supermarket of your choice. If you have any problem please contact us at parents@whcps.org.  The school emails will be checked at intervals throughout the holiday so we would ask for your patience in receiving a response.

Breakfast Club – Autumn Term 2022

Please note Breakfast Club can now be booked for the Autumn Term. We can confirm that arrangements will remain the same, with both the Active and Quiet club available for children to attend.  Unfortunately, our system only enables us to allow bookings to be made from the 1st September 2022 via Arbor so please go on from that day and you will be able to book on a daily, weekly or termly basis.  Alternatively, if you would like us to book the first week of term for you, please email the office on parents@whcps.org stating which days you would like your child to attend, and which club and we will ensure a space is booked for them.  A reminder that if your child has been invited to attend the Thrive Breakfast Club, Read and Feed or Gym Trails, you do not need to book a space, as the office staff will have done this for you.  If you are unsure if this includes your child or you have any further questions please refer these to the office team.

Gadgeteers: Summer Reading Programme

We are pleased to let you know that Suffolk Libraries are again running their Summer Reading Challenge aimed at helping children aged 4-11 years of age to read for pleasure over their summer break.  The theme this year ‘Gadgeteers’, will spark their curiosity about the world around them and is accompanied by lots of resources and activities from the Science Museum Group.  The children will be able to join six fictional ‘Gadgeteers’ who use their curiosity and wonder to understand the science behind a whole range of interests, including fashion, technology, cooking and music – so something for everyone! For more information head to your local library or have a look at the challenge website: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/

Governor Awards

We are pleased to share with you the list of children who have been presented with Governors Awards for their wonderful efforts during this school year.  We are so proud of all of our children.

A note from Miss Calver: Attendance Officer

As we reach the end of the school year, I just wanted to wish you all a very happy summer holiday.  Thank you to all those who have contacted the school when their child has been absent and who continue to bring in copies of medical appointments.    As we head into the new school year in September, Whitehouse will be following Government guidance strictly in support of the national expectation for all children to be in school every day and issuing the appropriate fines for unauthorised absences.

If you have any concerns about your child’s attendance in the future, please get in touch so we can discuss the issue and look for help that is available to support your child being in school.  Don’t forget it is just as important to be at school on time every day as those missed minutes really do add up.  Be an Attendance Hero: Here Everyday Ready On Time.

Finally, a HUGE WELL DONE to the 12 students (of compulsory school age) at Whitehouse who achieved 100% Attendance this year.  You can all be very proud of yourselves and will receive a certificate and a book token. 😊

Online Safety

As we approach the summer holidays, we feel it is important for you to have access to information and great resources to help support with any Online Safety concerns you may come across during the holidays.  The websites below are crammed with helpful information, videos, links, games and more.

We wish you a restful summer.  When we return in September we are excited to introduce you to our new Online Safety Ambassadors.  Watch this space!

Youth Sport Trust PE Quality Mark

Following on from last week’s School Games Gold Mark success, we are extremely delighted to announce that our PE/sport provision has also been awarded the Youth Trust Silver Quality Mark!

The Youth Trust PE Quality Mark assesses the quality of schools overall PE provision based upon the following benchmarks:

  • Overall - vision, leadership and management
  • High quality Physical Education

  •      Using high quality PE, school sport and physical activity to drive whole-school improvement

We are delighted to receive this award as it celebrates all of the hard work, progress and high-quality delivery of our PE provision. We would again like to take this opportunity to thank every pupil and staff for their efforts and hard work to support our PE provision, and also to parents/carers for all of your continued support.

Dinner Debt

Despite regular reminders we still have some parents/carers who have not cleared their dinner debts.  Please make payment urgently.  For those Year 6 children whose debts remain, please note these will be passed to the Trust who will be chasing for immediate payment.  Thanks for your co-operation.

Summer Fair

Thank you to every one of you who attended our Summer Fair last week.  It was wonderful to see so many of our families stay to enjoy the fun!  The Grand Raffle proved particularly popular, well done to everyone who was successful in winning a prize.  The top prize was a £75.00 Morrisons voucher which was kindly donated by C&S Transport of Felixstowe.

One of the real highlights of the event was ‘Soak the Teacher’ which a very large queue building when it was Mr Williams’ turn to get wet!

A big thank you to our Ms Salmon and the PFA (Parents and Friends of Whitehouse) who worked extremely hard to organise and run the fair.  They would also like to pass on their thanks to the many volunteers who helped set up the day and run the stalls.  A brilliant and fun time enjoyed by everyone!
