07-10-2022 - Year 6 - Martlesham Heath Control Tower Trip

6th October 2022

Martlesham Heath RAF Control Tower Visit – Year 6

Dear Parents/Carers

We are writing to inform you about an exciting trip we have organised for year 6 next half-term, in connection with our history topic on World War 2.  We have booked a trip to the Martlesham Heath RAF control tower museum. During the visit, children will learn about the ‘Blitz’, Anderson shelters and look at real RAF artefacts from WW1 and WW2.

The visits will take place within normal school time and normal school uniform should be worn. As some of the activities will take place outside, please ensure your child comes to school with a waterproof and warm coat. Your child will not need to take anything else with them on the day.

We have had to split the trip over two sessions and two days due to the venue’s small capacity. Below is the timetable for when each class is going. Ocelots have been separated into a number of smaller groups and the children will be notified by the class teacher the exact day and time they will attend in advance of the trip.

Thursday 3rd November

Thursday 10th November

9:00am – 11:30am

Toucans + some Ocelots

Macaws + some Ocelots

12:00pm– 2:30pm

Tigers + some Ocelots

Chameleons + some Ocelots

The cost per child is a voluntary contribution of £5.00 which covers coach travel and admission. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience history ‘hands on’.

Please note consent and payment can be made via Arbor or alternatively please complete the attached form and return to the office with payment.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Mr Johnson, Mr Taylor, Ms Siddall, Mr Christopher, Mr Trimmer and Miss Fathers
