Year 4 - Visit to Victorian School, Great Cressingham

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are writing to inform you about an exciting trip we have organised for our Year 4 children to experience an authentic Victorian experience whilst gaining an understanding of Victorian Britain in a school that was built in 1840 which has been restored to its Victorian style.

If your child is in Squirrels class they will be going on Tuesday 6th June. If they are in Foxes class they will be going on Wednesday 7th June and if they are in Hedgehogs they will be going on Thursday 8th June 2023.

We will leave school at 8.30am and return by the end of the school day. Your child will require a packed lunch, drink (No glass bottles, sweets or fizzy drinks please) and a snack.

If your child is entitled to Free School Meals please indicate on the attached form if you would like us to provide a school packed lunch.

Your child will need to dress in simple poor Victorian clothing so the boys will need to wear plain long-sleeved white shirts, dark trousers tucked into knee length dark plain socks and a waistcoat if they you have one. Plain dark shoes or trainers. Neckerchiefs and caps which can be borrowed if needed. Girls will need long or short sleeved white shirts/blouses, calf-length/long skirts, or plain dark dresses with shawls or smocks. They can wear a hat or bonnet if you have one. Long hair should be plaited and pulled back off of the face and only plain ribbons in their hair. They mustn’t wear any nail varnish, jewellery or digital watches. If the weather is cold please make sure that your child wears a layer underneath their clothes and bring a coat for outdoor playground activities. 

The cost of the trip is a voluntary contribution of £10.00 which will help cover the cost of the trip and coach travel.

So that you can give consent and pay for the trip, it has been placed on Arbor. Alternatively, please return the attached consent form to the school office by Friday 26th May 2023 along with payment in a sealed envelope marked with ‘Victorian School’ written on it.
