Gurdwara Visit – Year 5
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are writing to inform you about an exciting trip we have organised for year 5 this half-term, in connection with our RE topic on Sikhism. We have booked a trip to the Gurdwara on Bramford Road. During the visit, children will learn about the how Sikhs worship as well as taking part in a Turban tying workshop.
The visits will take place within usual school time and school uniform should be worn. As we will be walking to the Gurdwara, please ensure your child comes to school with a waterproof and warm coat. Appropriate footwear should also be worn. Your child will not need to take anything else with them on the day.
We have had to split the trip into 2 sessions due to the venue’s small capacity. Below is the timetable for when each class is going.
| Tuesday 24th September |
9:40 – 11:20 | Jaguars and some Pandas |
10:40 – 12:20 | Lizards and remaining Pandas |
During the experience, your child will be asked to take off their shoes to enter the temple and wear a head cover. Please ensure that they are wearing clean socks and have a scarf or hat with them during the trip.
The cost per child is a voluntary contribution of £1, which covers admission. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience RE ‘hands on’.
At Whitehouse, we value the importance of trips as they help the children to engage with their learning and provide opportunities for the children to deepen their understanding through first hand experiences. Please remember that educational trips are not intended to be optional as they are part of our school curriculum.
Please note consent and payment can be made via Arbor, or alternatively please complete the attached form and return to the office with payment.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind Regards
Mr. Ellis, Miss Fathers and Mr. Christopher
