Summer Holiday Reading Challenge

We are pleased to let you know the Suffolk Libraries Summer Reading Challenge is back for 2021!  The theme this year is Wild World Heroes, with a group of friends making their town even better for the people and animals that live there.   The challenge will feature some amazing books, awesome rewards and plenty of ideas for taking care of our environment.  As always, the challenge is open to all children, they need to sign up, read six books over the summer holidays and collect a prize for each one from your local library.  For completing the challenge, each child will receive a certificate.  The challenge opened on Saturday 17th July.  To sign up, you just need to visit your local library.

If you would like any further information, please visit this site: https://www.suffolklibraries.co.uk/whats-on/annual-events/summer-reading-challenge-2021

Swimming Lessons

We are thrilled to let you know that Swimming Lessons will be starting again in the Autumn Term for our Year 5 and Year 6 children.  This will be starting with Jaguars and Chameleons who should have received a letter with details of arrangements and timings.

EYFS Sports Day

Last Thursday saw both Nursery and Reception take part in the final two, of our eight, Sport Day events this year.  The pupils across EYFS had put lots of effort into practicing the different events within their athletics unit of work during their PE lessons, and this hard work definitely showed! Each class/group were absolutely amazing and put 100% effort into each and every one of the activities. Again, a lot of careful planning had to go into ensuring that we were able to deliver a COVID-safe event for our EYFS pupils. Despite the Government restrictions, we were very proud to be able to invite parents and carers to share their child’s first ever Sports Day event with us at Whitehouse Community Primary School. After such a difficult year, it was fantastic to see everyone with big smiles on their faces! A big thank you to pupils, staff and spectators for making of the EYFS Sports Day events a success.

The final results from the Reception Sports Day event were as follows:

Despite yet another unsettled year in which a number of changes have been implemented, one thing that hasn’t changed has been the continued enthusiasm and engagement shown by pupils during their PE lessons. School Games Mark Framework 2020/21

Unfortunately, due to Government restrictions and lockdowns, this year we haven’t been able to attend the usual vast array of School Games competitions, festivals and events. However, to ensure that pupils remain active and fully engaged in the Schools Games provision, a number of Virtual Challenges have taken place instead. As result, we are very proud to announce that after all our hard work and effort within PE this year that as a school we have received the School Games Mark Framework 2020/21.  This award has been presented to us in recognition for our engagement in the School Games provision throughout the year. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all of our pupils that have been involved in any of Virtual PE Challenges, both in school and as part of ‘at home’ learning. We would also like to thank staff for their effort in supporting the delivery of the Virtual events, and lastly to parents/carers for all of your continued support.

Thank You

A big thank you to Greggs Foundation for their continued assistance which has enabled us to support more families this year with some extra Aldi vouchers.  Their help is very much appreciated.
