Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 165
Friday 24th September 2021
Message from Mrs Hall
We do hope that you have had the chance to watch our superb film of the school. With the lockdowns experienced over the last 20 months, we feel that it is important for all parents/carers to be able to see the super environment and learning opportunities available to all the children. One of the key rights we are teaching the children is that all children have the right to access high quality education. We hope you agree that the school film demonstrates the high quality education provided at Whitehouse and that you share our pride in our amazing community school.
It is great that clubs have commenced again and we are pleased to be able to offer all clubs free of charge. If your child has not been able to access a club this half-term we will endeavour to make sure they attend at least one club during the school year. Thank you for your continued support.
Attendance for the Previous Week
Classes with the Best Attendance – Frogs (99.2%)
Assemblies
The theme of our assemblies for next week will be: Why is water precious? Why is access to water important to human life? UNRC Link: Article 26: I have the right to help from the government if I am poor or in need. Article 27: I have the right to a good enough standard of living. This means I should have food, clothes and a place to live. Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website. To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.
Purple Man Reading Competition
Well done to Hedgehogs (LKS2) and Chameleons (UKS2) classes who won the Purple Man Reading Competition last week. The children have done a great job as both classes have now won two weeks running! Who will win this week?
Exciting News: New Parent App
Did you see that we have introduced a new parent app this week? Have you signed up yet? Since moving to academisation we are using a different system to hold all our pupil data and the new app offers much more to our parents/carers also. The app will allow you to update your contact details, check dinner money balances and top up your account and even check on your child’s attendance. Have a look at the link to get some more details: https://www.whcps.org/arbor-parent-app/.
If you have not received a welcome email, please message the school office on parents@whcps.org as it might be that we do not have your correct email address.

Year 3 Trip
Our Year 3 children are learning about The Stone Age as their enquiry topic and so they were able to visit the Ipswich Museum this week to learn about the Neolithic and Mesolithic periods. They learnt about how people during the Stone Age became more sophisticated hunters and gatherers. The children were able to enjoy lots of fun activities to support their learning, including plotting and making a Stone Age settlement, making clay pots and looking at real Stone Age artefacts. They particularly enjoyed looking at flint tools which had been found in Suffolk and were used for hunting deer and other animals. Year 3 had a wonderful day and their behaviour was excellent. Don’t forget that Ipswich Museum is free so would make a lovely place to make a return visit with your family!
Exciting News – School Film
Many of you will remember that towards the end of the Summer Term we had a film made about the school. This has now all been finalised and is available to watch on the front page of our website: www.whcps.org. We hope you will love it as much as we do! We are so proud of all our staff and children and the wonderful, caring learning environment we have been able to create at Whitehouse.
Mobile Phones – Year 6
With many of our Year 6 children walking to school on their own, we are aware that parents/carers often like them to have access to a mobile phone. Can we please remind you that phones need to be handed in either to the class teacher or to the office at the start of the school day and collected after the bell. Thank you for your cooperation.
After School Clubs
Please note if your child has a sporty after school club, we would ask you to please send them to school in their PE kit at the start of the day.
Year 6 Netball Club
Ms Salmon is running the Year 6 Netball Club this year and they are a little short on numbers to be able to play a full game. If any of your Year 6 children would like to join the club, please let the office know and we can add them on. The club is held after school on a Tuesday and finishes at 4.15pm.
