MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Message from Mrs Hall

Although Ipswich has seen a rise in coronavirus cases during this half-term, I have been very proud of the children, staff and families’ resilience during this global pandemic. This has been a challenging time for many people. I do hope that you and your families are able to have a rest and that your Christmas is safe and socially distanced. Guidance about current restrictions in Suffolk can be found here:  https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/coronavirus-covid-19/latest-information/. We are really looking forward to welcoming all the children back to school on Tuesday 5th January 2021. Thank you for your continued support.

Covid-19 Cases over Christmas

We very much appreciate the support you have given the school over what has been a difficult term with regard to Covid-19 cases.  If your child does experience Covid-19 symptoms over the Christmas holiday, please arrange for them to have a test and follow the self-isolation requirements.  If your child tests positive for Covid-19 during the Christmas break, please email the school at parents@whcps.org clearly stating your child’s name, class, the date when their symptoms started and the date of their positive test.

Please see the letter on https://www.whcps.org/17-12-2020-christmas-holiday-covid-info/ for further information.

Reception School Place

If your child was born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, please note you need to have applied for a full-time school place by 15th January 2021.  Even if your child is already attending the Whitehouse School Nursery, you still need to ensure you apply for a place as this is not automatically given to them.  To apply, please go to www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions or call the Admissions Team at Suffolk County Council on 0345 600 0981.

Reading News

Well done to Hedgehogs, Chameleons and Red Pandas for winning the ‘Purple Man’ Reading Competition last week.

Year 2 Crowns

Our Year 2 children have been busy this week making crowns, which they embellished with ‘precious jewels’ whilst listening to royal music!  I am sure you will agree they look wonderful.

Flu Immunisations

A reminder that we are having a catch-up session of the Flu Immunisations on Thursday 7th January 2021.  Please note this will be given to any child where the parent has given permission and the child was out of the school on the original flu clinic date.

Congratulations

Well done to Tayla who was the runner-up in the Greggs Foundation Christmas Card Competition.  She was very pleased to receive her prize of £25 in book tokens which she will enjoy spending.

First Response is a 24/7 helpline offering immediate advice, support and signposting for people with mental health difficulties.  If you are experiencing something that makes you feel unsafe, distressed or worried about your mental health you can now call the helpline on 0808 196 3494.  The helpline is available to members of the public of any age, regardless of whether they are an existing NSFT service user.   Your call will be answered by a trained medical health professional who will be able to listen to your concerns and help you get the support you need.  Callers will hear a recorded message instructing them to press either 1 or 2, depending on whether they are a professional or a member of the public and will then be connected to a mental health practitioner.

Thank You!

We would like to say a big thank you for all the families who have kindly donated food parcels and supermarket vouchers to pass on to our families who are in need at the moment.  Also, a very big thank you to Morrisons Supermarket and the Greggs Foundation who have enabled the school to assist many who are experiencing difficulties in this pandemic.
