Message from Mrs Hall

We were delighted to hear the Prime Minister’s announcement that schools will open for all children on the 8th March.  The government has stated that attendance at school will be compulsory and so we look forward to seeing all children back in the classroom, learning with their peers.  We are reviewing government guidance and setting up the new systems needed for this full re-opening. We will send you this updated information and the latest risk assessment on Monday 1st March when everything has been finalised. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to contact parents@whcps.org and a member of SLT will contact you. Thank you for your continued support.

World Book Day

Thursday 4th March 2021 is World Book Day and is going to take place virtually this year.  You can download a £1.00 voucher for your child by following the link below.  There are also links to the World Book Day website FAQs in case you have any questions about using them.  There is also a link to ‘Look Insides’ where your child can have a look at each of the books in order to choose which one they would like.  Although bookshops are currently closed, most supermarkets do stock the books.

The children will also be able to take part in activities suggested by their teachers all next week.  We are disappointed not to be able to share the day with them in school but we will do all we can to make it a fun week.  Please encourage your child to enjoy the activities and choose their free book.

Thank You!

We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to the Greggs Foundation, The Big Local Trust, Pilgrims Foods and some of our families who have been donating food to the school. These lovely donations have enabled us to help over 200 of our families during this difficult time by providing food parcels, fresh food or vouchers for local supermarkets.  In addition, our Year 3 pupils were also provided with the ingredients they needed to make flapjacks as part of their DT work.  We know some of our families will still be finding things a challenge and may not have told us. So, if you require any help, please contact our Pastoral Team (Mrs Gotts or Miss Brinkley) who will do all they can to help. You can read a recent article in the local press about the help we have received here: https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/education/greggs-and-pilgrims-support-ipswich-primary-school-7784796

Whitehouse Survey on KS2 Remote Learning

We have been really impressed by the way children and families have adapted to a new learning environment.  At Whitehouse, we are always looking at ways to make learning easier and more enjoyable.  To help us, can we ask you to please spend a few moments answering questions about your child’s experience of remote learning by accessing the links below before Monday 8th March 2021.  The links can also be found on the website in the Parents Tab, under Parent Surveys.  Please note that children have also been requested to provide their views via Google Classroom.  Thank you for your continued support.

Year 3 Art Work

Last half term, our Year 3 children spent time exploring landscape art produced by a variety of artists and in the final week they produced their own wonderful pieces.  These are just a few of the fantastic landscapes they produced:  Snowy Mountains by Summer, Christchurch Park by Oscar and Wintery Woods by Kezia. Well done Year 3.
