Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 285
Friday 18th October 2024
A Message from Miss Siddall
Many thanks to all parents and carers who were able to attend the project showcase events this week. It was wonderful to see so many of the children sharing their project work with you. Thank you for supporting our curriculum. The next project showcase is on Tuesday 17th December 2-24 (YR, Y2, Y4 and Y6) and Thursday 19th December 2024 (YN, Y1, Y3 and Y5). We will endeavour to send the next homework menus to you before half term so that the children can get started if they wish to, and to give you a chance to complete the family activity if you are able. Thank you for your continued support.
Attendance for last week:
Class with the best attendance: Dragons (99.26%)
Assemblies
The theme of our assemblies for next week will be: Recycling Week: What is recycling and why is it a good thing to do? (UNRC: Article 28 – I have the right to education). Try and take some time to speak to your child. Why not ask them to explain how we do recycling in school and ask them to help you at home with recycling your household waste.
Medical Appointments
We are aware that at this time of the year, there are always lots of minor illnesses around and it can be a challenge to get an appointment with the doctor.
Are you aware, however, that Pharmacists are now able to offer more help than ever. There are an additional seven conditions they are able to help with, including providing any relevant medications needed to treat them. You do not have to make an appointment and the sooner your child is seen, the sooner they are able to feel better and continue with normal routine, including coming to school.
Free School Meal Vouchers
We are pleased to confirm that Suffolk County Council will again be providing vouchers to parents/carers of any child who is eligible for free school meals, to help with food costs over the October half term holiday. The voucher will be £15.00 per eligible child.
As usual the voucher will be sent by email from noresponse@vouchers.sodexoengage.com and will be with you by Thursday 24th October 2024. If you do not receive the voucher, please email freeschoolmeals@suffolk.gov.uk and they will be able to assist. Please do not contact the school office as we will be unable to help.
Awards
As you may be aware, the children are encouraged to follow ‘The Whitehouse Way’ in school to help them in their learning and in becoming good citizens. Inclusive Visit to The Bridge School
As you will probably be aware, last year we achieved the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) with Centre of Excellence Status in recognition of our inclusive ethos and practice. Over the course of the past year we have been fortunate to develop our links with The Bridge School with children from both schools enjoying opportunities to share time and events together. Last week we were invited by The Bridge School with some of our school prefects where they had the privilege of judging an art exhibition created by their pupils, sharing outdoor time and taking part in a Makaton lesson. Our pupils demonstrated exemplary behaviour and The Whitehouse Way throughout. It was wonderful to see their inclusive approach as they interacted with students from The Bridge School. We look forward to further developing our partnership with The Bridge School and future inclusive events.
Year 4: Dental Visit
This week Year 4 had a visit from a dental nurse. The children had a chance to show off all of their knowledge about teeth and the nurse was very impressed at all they knew! During the session, the nurse explained how to brush their teeth and why this was so very important. The children then were able to decide what foods were good and which were not so good for their teeth, and even learnt that cheese actually helps to clean their teeth! They also had a chance to experience using a disclosure tablet to see just how well they were brushing. Everyone really enjoyed the session, so a big thank you to the dental nurse for all her help.
Celebrating our Children
We always love to hear about what our children are achieving in the times they are not in school and today would like to celebrate George (Year 3). He loves to do karate, and he entered a competition at the weekend. We were thrilled to see he came 3rd! What a fabulous achievement George, a big well done!
Please do keep sharing your children’s successes – we would love to celebrate these with you!
