Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 127
Friday 28th February 2020
Message from Mrs Hall
Welcome back to a new, busy half-term at Whitehouse! This week you should have received the class newsletters and curriculum maps detailing the exciting learning planned. Curriculum maps can also be found on our school website: https://www.whcps.org/our-enquiry-based-curriculum/ In addition, please ensure you check the school calendar as there are lots of opportunities for parents/carers to visit the school. Finally, it is very important that we have the most up to date phone numbers for parents, should we need to contact you in an emergency. If you change your phone number please let the office know as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support.

Classes with the Best Punctuality – Seahorses, Starfish, Elephants, Giraffes, Lions, Dragons and Owls
Class that needs to improve their Attendance – Elephants (89.6%)

Assemblies
The theme of our assemblies for next will be: World Book Day: How well do we know our English authors? Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website. To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.
Wet Weather
Can we please remind parents/carers to help their children avoid walking in the muddy areas of the school site on their way into school in the mornings. As you can imagine this can make the classrooms rather muddy for the rest of the day!
House Points
A massive well done to all of the Houses! Since Christmas, so many tokens have been handed out to children that we ran out of them! The winning house for Spring 1 was Emerald, once again, with an incredible 1,393 tokens. Second place went to Diamond with 964 and they were closely followed by Sapphire with 949 tokens. In fourth place were Ruby, who had 770 tokens. As a reward, all children in Emerald House will have a non-uniform day on Monday 2nd March.

Construction Day – Follow Up
Many of our Year 6 enjoyed a Construction Day last term and Lenny enjoyed it so much that he took up the offer of some extra training by Eastern Region Roof Training over the weekend. Lenny had a wonderful day where he was able to build a bird box. He also received a tour of the premises, a toolbox full of tools just the right size for Lenny to use and a booklet about apprenticeships in the future. This was perfect for Lenny who would like to be a carpenter when he leaves school.
Parking Restrictions
Please be aware that notices have been placed near the Waterford Road entrance to school in which Suffolk County Council have proposed to place yellow lines on the road which leads into school past the Whitehouse Baptist Church. Please refer to the notices which give information on where the proposed plans can be viewed if desired.
Year 4 – Art Lesson
Our Year 4 children had a lovely treat in their art lesson just before half term. Mr Hobhouse was able to bring in an original wood printing block which had been carved by William Morris himself! The block dates back to 1887. The children really enjoyed being able to see such an interesting piece.

Visit from the Mayor of Ipswich – Councillor Jan Parry
On Tuesday 25th February, the Mayor of Ipswich, Jan Parry visited the school for a tour. During her visit she was able to see the super work that is happening across the school. She was very impressed with the behaviour of the children and the calm and purposeful learning environment.

Coronavirus
The school is routinely monitoring the advice provided by Public Health England (PHE) regarding coronavirus to ensure the health of our pupils, staff and visitors while they are on our site. We are reminding the children that they should frequently be washing their hands with soap and water, and ask that you encourage them to do the same at home.
