A Message from Miss Siddall
It has been an incredibly busy year and we are all so proud of everything the children have achieved. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the children for being enthusiastic learners, the parents for their continued support and the wonderful staff for their hard work and commitment. We would like to wish our Year 6 children who are heading off to their different High Schools the very best of luck and well done for their amazing performances of ‘Porridge!’. We would also like to say goodbye and good luck to the staff who are leaving us. We hope you all have a great summer break and we look forward to seeing the children back in school on Wednesday 4th September. We are all looking forward to what the next academic year brings.

Dinner Debt
Despite regular reminders, we still have some parents/carers who have not cleared their dinner debts. Please make payment urgently via Arbor. For those Year 6 children whose debts remain, please note these will be passed to the Trust who will be chasing for immediate payment. In addition, we would also ask that any Breakfast Club debts are cleared urgently, again via Arbor. Thank you for your co-operation.
Celebrating our Children
A big well done to Darsie and Carmen who this week were given some awards in their street dance classes. Darcie received the ‘You’ve got a Spark’ award, whilst Carmen received the ‘You’ve grown in confidence’ award. Well done to you both.
Don’t forget to let us know after the summer holiday the wonderful things your child is achieving, we would love to celebrate this in our newsletters!

A message from the Attendance Officer: Mrs Zantboer
As this school year draws to a close, I wanted to say a personal thank you to all of our families for actively engaging with us to help with their children’s attendance. Our hugely popular duck races will be continuing into the new academic year, as well as some exciting new incentives, so keep your eyes peeled for these! Have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing everyone back, bright and breezy when our gates open on Wednesday 4th September 2024.
Family Breakfast Club
Our family breakfasts have proved very popular again this year; we are so pleased that so many of you have come along with your children on a Monday morning and shared a lovely, calm start to the week with us. We will be continuing with these in September and look forward to lots of you joining us!
Healthy Eating: Recipe
One final recipe for tempting ice lollies.
Rainbow Lollies
1 medium banana
180g strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped
150g fresh mango chunks
180g blueberries
Make the strawberry layer: Add ½ sliced banana and the strawberries to a blender and blitz until completely smooth. Divide the mixture between 8 lolly moulds so that each is about a third full.
Make the mango layer: Add the remaining ½ of the banana and the mango to the blender and again blitz until smooth. Carefully spoon a layer of the mango puree into the moulds to add the second layer.
Make the blueberry layer: Add the blueberries to the blender and blitz until smooth. Add on top of the mango layer.
Freeze the lollies for at least 8 hours, until solid. Keep for up to 1 month in the freezer.
Governor Awards
We are pleased to share with you the list of children who have been presented with Governors Awards for their wonderful efforts during this school year. We are so proud of all of our children.

House Captain Elections
During this term, a number of our Year 5 children have been campaigning to become the next House Captains. After a successful application letter, the candidates then produced a video to explain why they would make a good House Captain and also their vision of how they would lead their respective houses. These videos were then shared with the whole school along with ballot papers for the children to cast their votes. After a nervous wait for the candidates, the votes have been counted and the results are in! The elected House Captains are as follows:
Diamond House | Noah (Jaguars) | Kyla (Macaws) |
Emerald House | Skye (Macaws) | Sophia (Lizards) |
Ruby House | Lacey (Lizards) | Imogen (Macaws) |
Sapphire House | Ben (Jaguars) | Leonna (Pandas) |
Well done to everyone who put themselves forward and to those who were elected.
U9 Quadkids Event
Last Wednesday, Mr Jordan & Miss Brundrit took ten Year 3/4 pupils to Northgate Sports Centre to take part in the U9 Quadkids Event. The Quadkids event is an annual athletics event which involves teams competing in a rotation of 4 separate athletics events made up of a 75m sprint, 400m race, Vortex Howler throwing and the standing long jump. The Quadkids event is always a very popular event in the sports calendar, and this year was no exception with 34 teams taking part. With the upcoming Paris Olympics this summer, each school was allocated an Olympic country to represent. Our pupils represented Argentina and took part in an exciting opening and closing ceremony, in which each team walked around the running track waving their flags and banners of their respective country. Mr Jordan and Miss Brundrit were extremely proud of the team’s performance and also their impeccable behaviour throughout the event. As a result of their hard work and effort, the team finished a very respectable 21st place. Mr Jordan would like to thank the parents/carers for providing transport and supporting the team during the event. Well done everyone!
Bikeability
Last week 12 of our Year 5 pupils took part in a Suffolk County Council led cycling training course known as ‘Bikeability’. Throughout the two-day course, the pupils were taught, and assessed, on their cycling skills and safety. The pupils demonstrated their skills during off road/playground activities (Level 1), before continuing their training on quiet local roads (Level 2). A massive congratulations goes to all of the pupils for passing their Level 1 award and the 11 pupils that were also able to achieve their Level 2 award. The instructors were very complementary of the pupils’ effort and exemplary behaviour throughout the two days! Following the success of this year’s Bikeability, Mr Jordan has already spoken to the instructors to secure dates for next year!
PE Awards
Each year Mr Jordan celebrates the hard work, effort and achievements of individual pupils within PE with our annual PE awards. As with previous years, the awards go to pupils at the end of KS1 (Year 2) and KS2 (Year 6).

End of KS2 | |
Max (Chameleons) | Tilly (Tigers) |
Well done to you all, this was thoroughly deserved!
Wake Up and Walk
The beginning of this week saw the return of our ‘Wake Up & Walk’ event. The event, organised by Mr Jordan, encouraged pupils, parents and carers to take part in a Daily Mile inspired 2 lap walk around the KS2 field, before school. The turnout for the event by both pupils and parent/carers exceeded the numbers from last year’s event with an impressive 195 pupils and 128 parents/carers taking part during the KS1 & KS2 events! It was fantastic to see so many of our pupils and parents/carers enjoying the physical, mental and social benefits from the early morning exercise. Mr Jordan would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that helped to make our ‘Wake Up & Walk’ event another massive success!
Centre of Excellence for Inclusion
As you may recall, last year we achieved the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) with Centre of Excellence Status in recognition of our inclusive ethos and practice. We recently welcomed the IQM assessor back to school to assess our continued progress and are delighted to announce that, for the second year running, we have again been awarded Centre of Excellence Status.
‘Whitehouse Community Primary School is an example of a school committed to meeting the needs of its children and is outstanding in its commitment to and implementation of inclusive practice.’ IQM Report 2024
Our assessor noted how ‘Whitehouse Community Primary School is a caring and inclusive place to learn’ with our report recognising that ’inclusion is evident in all aspects of the school’s work.’ Our work with our families and the local community was also praised, especially our partnership with The Bridge School. Over the course of this year, we have been fortunate to develop our links with The Bridge School with children from both schools enjoying opportunities to share books together and take part in a Boccia tournament. We were delighted to welcome students and staff from The Bridge to our Year 6 production. The Bridge students gave the performance 10/10 and enjoyed spending time with some of the cast members after the production!
Eco News
This academic year, Eco-club has been busy collecting crisp packets, glue sticks and pens for our recycling scheme. We have managed to recycle a whopping 1,970 crisp packets, 23kg of glue sticks and 15.5kg of pens this year thanks to the help of the whole school! We can’t wait to see if we can beat our achievements next year.
