Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 157

Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 157

Friday 18th June 2021

Message from Mrs Hall

As a result of the government’s decision to delay the Covid-19 lockdown easing until the 19th July, we are currently reviewing our end of term arrangements (sports day, transition etc.) Please can we ask parents and carers to be patient whilst we review the guidance, so that we can make the best decisions for the children. It is imperative that we all do our very best to ensure that Covid-19 does not continue to spread across the country and that the children have a positive end to the academic year. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Attendance for the Previous Week

Class with the Best Attendance – Puffins (100%)

Assemblies

The theme of our assembly next week will be: What is a disability?  Can you name any disabilities? (UNRC Link: Article 23 – I have the right to lead a full life, even if I am disabled). Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website.  To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

Purple Man Reading Award

The Purple Man award last week went to the Foxes and Tigers classes.  Well done to them!  As usual we will be collecting all the books back in before the end of term, so there are only three more weeks for each class to achieve the award.

Currently in LKS2, Foxes are in the lead with 12 points.  However, Squirrels and Owls have yet to have the highest score of the week so it would be great if the children in these two classes could try especially hard over the next couple of weeks so they can be on the chart.

In UKS2 there is close battle between Ocelots with 9 points and Tigers with 7.  Jaguars have not yet been at the top of the chart so again why not try your very hardest over the next few weeks!  Please all keep reading and keep quizzing.

Year 1

The children in Year 1 have started their learning around the ‘Pointillist’ style of art.  They have been enjoying learning about the artists Georges Seurat and exploring his famous paintings.  The children have now started to design and create their own pieces of art in this style using dots!

Concerns re Discord App

As we noted on our Newsletter dated 14th May 2021 use of the Discord App has increased hugely during lockdown.  This is a chat app (video and text) and includes the use of private chat rooms (often referred to as ‘private servers’).  Parents/Carers have recently informed us that they are aware some of our children are using this app and this may lead to children seeing inappropriate information/sites.   Please do take some time to read the following link and make yourselves more informed about this app and the concerns it raises:  https://www.net-aware.org.uk/networks/discord.  If you have any questions or would like further information please call the school office and ask to speak with Mrs Walker, our Online Safety Lead.
