Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 135

Friday 2nd October 2020

Message from Mrs Hall

It was really lovely to see that clubs were able to start again this week under our Covid risk assessment, as they are a strength of our school. The children have all commented on how great they were. Class clubs have included: art, multi-sports, chess, lego, yoga, curling and comic club. We hope to continue clubs throughout the year, so that all children can benefit from learning new skills, opportunities to collaborate with their friends and to have fun. Thank you to all the staff for giving up their time to offer these great experiences.

Attendance for the Previous Week

Classes with the Best Attendance – Elephants and Owls (100%)

Class that needs to improve their Attendance – Jaguars (88.9%)

Classes that need to improve their Punctuality – Lions and Rabbits

Assemblies

The theme of our assemblies for next week will be: Paralympic Week: How do you become an Olympian? (UNRC Link: Article 23: If I am disabled mentally or physically, I have the right to special care and education to help me develop and lead a full life). Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website. To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

Payments

Can we remind parents/carers that due to the current circumstances we are unable to take money in school. We would encourage where possible that payment is made online using either a debit or credit card, through Suffolk County Council using the following links:

Dinner Money: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/schools/school-meals-uniforms-andtrips/school-meals/. Please note you will be asked which days your child will be eating a school dinner. You can enter any dates as we do not use this information, but will continue to ask your child each day what they would like for lunch. There is a minimum payment of £11.50 which is the price of five school meals.

Covid Personal Responsibility

A big thank you to all parents/carers who have been aware of all of the Covid restrictions on the school site and have co-operated so well with us. It is very important that every adult takes personal responsibility for themselves during these unusual circumstances so please do try and stay two metres away from other people on and off the school site. Also, can we remind you that it is vital that parents/carers do not stand outside the school chatting to one another as parents and children need to be able to safely walk around the school site. We very much appreciate your efforts in joining with us to ensure that all families, children and staff are able to remain safe and so that learning for the children can continue.

Parental Survey

You might be aware that Whitehouse recently registered to become a Rights Respecting School. Part of the process requires parents/carers to fill in an online questionnaire about how their child currently feels about school with regards to safety, wellbeing, learning, relationships to others as well as overall happiness, information which, in the current situation, we feel are of vital importance to our school. Could we therefore urge all parents/carers to take a few minutes of their time and fill in the online survey. Thank you very much in advance for your ongoing support. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XNFXNKV

Library Books

Thank you to everyone who has hunted for our missing Library books at home, some of which had been out of school since the lockdown in March. Please can we ask you to keep looking, although we have now cleared the children’s book loan records. From this week, we will start producing overdue letters again for books borrowed since we have returned to school. The process is that three reminders are sent home. The first of these remains in school and the child is encouraged to look for the book themselves. The second and third reminder is sent home and if still not returned or has been damaged, we ask for a payment of £5.00 so the book can be replaced. If payment is a problem we will accept a book that you have at home which you are willing to give as a replacement. Please do continue to help keep track of our books, we have had to replace quite a few lost ones and this does take money from our budget to do so. We always try to keep the choices as varied as possible and up to date. Thank you for all your assistance.
