Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 177

Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 177

Friday 7th January 2022

Message from Mrs Hall

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We hope that this newsletter finds you well and that you were able to enjoy the Christmas break with your families. The term has started positively and the children are eager to learn more about their enquiry questions (https://www.whcps.org/the-whitehouse-curriculum/). There has been much talk in the media about Covid-19 and school closures, however despite the ever-evolving situation that we are all presented with, we will do all that we can to ensure that we keep providing the very best education for your children (article 28).  I am immensely proud of how the children and staff have applied the skills they have learnt through the Whitehouse Way to help them manage these challenging times.

Attendance for the week before the Christmas holiday

Class with the Best Attendance – Rabbits (99.1%)

Assemblies

The theme of our assemblies for next week will be: Margaret Thatcher Day:  Who was Margaret Thatcher?  UNRC Link: Article 29: I have the right to education which tries to develop my personalities and abilities as much as possible and encourages me to respect other people’s rights and values and to respect the environment.      Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website.  To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

Play Equipment

Due to the expected seasonal change in the weather, both the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 equipment will be out of bounds for all children.  They will be reminded of this and both sets of equipment will be cordoned off.  Please could we ask that parents/carers keep their children, both younger siblings and children who attend Whitehouse off the equipment at the beginning and end of the school day.  Thank you for your continued support.

New Years Honours List

Some of you may have seen in the local press that Averil, one of our members of staff who retired in April 2021 was awarded a British Empire Medal in the New Years Honours List, for services to education.  Averil was a very key member of the team at Whitehouse, having worked as a cleaner for an impressive 51 years!

Well done, Averil. The award was very well deserved.

Religious Education

A big thank you to Emily in Year 6 for talking to her class all about her Christian faith recently.  She was able to bring in lots of items from home which showed some of her beliefs. Thank you for sharing these Emily, it was lovely for everyone to learn more!

Online Safety

Did your child receive a new device for Christmas?  Not sure how to make it safe?  Why not have a read through of this guide from the National Online Safety organisation.  They share a whole host of tips for setting up safe limits on your children’s devices.  Alternatively, it’s never too late to check your children’s existing devices are set up safely.
