Children's Work

At Whitehouse, pupils are encouraged to work towards producing a final piece that shows the progression of skills they have covered while experimenting, manipulating and investigating materials and mediums.

Their art sketchbooks become portfolios of their progress and creative journey from year 1 to 6.

Art techniques are developed across each Key Stage so that pupils can broaden their skill set and see their own progression between year groups.

Here you can see how pupils have explored and investigated colour mixing from Year 1 up to Year 3. Colour mixing begins in Key Stage One by experimenting to see what shades and tones can be made, and builds to adding specific amounts of black, grey and white to create subtle changes to colour.
