Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 142

Friday 27th November 2020

Message from Mrs Hall

I continue to be extremely proud of the children’s resilience during this pandemic. These are difficult times for everyone and it is so important that we continue to work together to ensure the children receive the best education. We are experiencing lower levels of staffing than usual but please be assured that we are doing all that we can to safely teach the children. Please can I ask all parents to carefully consider their social media posts and the impact that negative comments or gossip can have on individuals and the school. When making decisions in school we always put the safety and welfare of children first, which was highlighted in our most recent Ofsted. Thank you for your continued support.

Attendance for Previous Week

Class with the Best Attendance – Frogs (97.7%)

Assemblies

The theme of our assembly next week will be focussed on diversity: Thanksgiving: Why and how do Americans celebrate Thanksgiving (UNRC Link: Article 2:30. If I come from a minority group, because of my race, religion or language, I have the right to enjoy my own culture, practise my own religion and use my own language).  Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website.  To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

MyOn

A reminder that each of the children at school have been given a username and password to access MyOn.  This is a wonderful resource where they have access to a lot of online books which they can read.  Follow this link to access the site: https://www.myon.co.uk/

Reading Awards

The children have been working hard on their reading and last week the Purple Man award went to Chameleons and Robins.  Well done!

Hardship Assistance

A reminder that if you are finding things particularly hard at the moment, please do phone the school and ask to speak to a member of the Pastoral Team.  Kate and Nicola do have some avenues they can investigate further which may be able to offer some much needed help to our families.   Please do not feel embarrassed to approach us for help, we know how hard these times are for people and we are all in this together and any enquiry will be treated with the utmost confidence.

Reception School Place

If your child was born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, please note you need to have applied for a full-time school place by 15th January 2021.  Even if your child is already attending the Whitehouse School Nursery, you still need to ensure you apply for a place as this is not automatically given to them.  To apply, please go to www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions or call the Admissions Team at Suffolk County Council on 0345 600 0981.

Art and Baking Competitions

A reminder that we have two competitions running in school at the moment.  For all of you budding cooks we have The Great Whitehouse Bake Off.  This is a chance to show off your creative skills in the kitchen and bake a festive treat!  Don’t forget to send a photo of your entry together with the recipe addressed to Mr Donowa on parents@whcps.org.  The top 5 entries will each receive 5 house points!

In addition, we have our Autumnal Art competition.  Children are invited to create a piece of artwork (drawing, painting, sculpture, collage etc) to represent the changing of the seasons and the beautiful colours of autumn.  These should be on A3 or A4 paper, and should be accompanied by a short piece of writing explaining about their creation.  Winners will be given a prize and entries will be displayed in school.

Flu Immunisations

A reminder we have our flu immunisations in school on Monday 7th December.  This is available for children in all years from Reception up to Year 6, but will only be given to children whose parents/carers have signed up and given permission.  If you do have any questions or have not yet given permission you will need to contact the Schools Immunisation Team on 0300 555 5055 or email them at ccs-tr.suffolkimmsteam@nhs.net.
