Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 152

Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 152

Friday 7th May 2021

Message from Mrs Hall

Over the last few weeks we have seen an increase in some children using technology in an unkind way or using apps that have an age restriction. Please can we ask that all parents/carers check that  children who have a mobile phone, computer or tablet are using these devices appropriately and safely. We would suggest that parents/carers regularly check devices and talk to their children about online safety to reinforce the work we are completing in school. If you require further information, please visit our web-site for more details: https://www.whcps.org/online-safety/ Thank you for your continued support.

Attendance for the Previous Week

Class with the Best Attendance – Owls (98.9%)

Assemblies

The theme of our assembly next week will be on: Why is it important for a child to have a voice? (UNRC Link: Article 12 – I have the right to an opinion and for it to be heard).  Resources related to this assembly will soon be available on our website.  To access them, simply go to Learning and click on our Enquiry Based Assemblies.

Purple Man Award

Well done to Foxes and Tigers who won this week’s Purple Man reading Award.

Word Millionaires

We are very pleased to let you know we have four new Word Millionaires.  This is a wonderful achievement.  Well done to Ellie, Nina, Harvey and Jana.  We are very proud of your hard work!

Thank You!

A big thank you to all those who gave a donation for their child to come in non-uniform last Friday.  We are pleased to confirm we have been able to raise £214.85 for each of the charities we were supporting: Make a Wish and Suffolk Mind.  Good luck to Mr Ward and Mrs Williams as you continue to fundraise for these great causes!

Payments

We have been made aware that our online payment system is still experiencing some issues.  If you are unable to pay online, please note money can be placed in an envelope labelled with the child’s name and the reason for the payment and passed to the teacher or directly to the office.  Thank you.

Year 1 Curriculum

Our Year 1 children have been busy reading the story of Handa’s Surprise, which is a story about a little girl who packs a basket full of tropical fruits.  In their Design and Technology lesson, the children designed and then made their own fruit salads using the fruits they discovered in the story.  It was great fun and the children loved trying the new foods!

School Uniform

Can we please remind parents/carers that on all days when the children are not having PE lessons they should be coming to school in their full, smart school uniform, which does not include the wearing of trainers.  Please see details of our uniform on our main newsletter.

School Nursing Resource (aged 11-19 years)

The School Nursing Team have introduced a new resource for anyone with a child aged 11-19 (which includes some of our Year 6 children) called ChatHealth.  This is a confidential texting service for parents and carers and young people aged 11-19 who are living in Suffolk.  Messages can be sent about any worries you may have about health and wellbeing and will then be responded to by the Schools Nursing Team.   Responses are sent between 9.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.  The number to text with any concerns is 07507 333356.
