Sports Day 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

As you will be aware from the weekly newsletter, our planned sports days take place next week. Each year group has again been allocated their own sports day session on the following days and times:

Wednesday 11th June

Thursday 12th June

Friday 13th June

Nursery – 9:15am – 10:15am

Year 1 – 10:00am – 11:00am

Year 4 – 10:00am – 11:00am

Reception – 10:30am – 11:30am

Year 2 – 11:15am – 12:15pm

Year 5 – 11:15am – 12:15pm

Year 3 – 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Year 6 – 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Please ensure that that your child comes into school wearing their WHCPS PE kit on the day of their sports day session. This includes their red WHCPS PE top, black shorts and appropriate footwear, ideally training shoes.

We are delighted to also invite parents/carers to come along to support and spectate their children. All sport day sessions will be held on the KS2 field. To ensure that each sports day session runs smoothly, please could we ask all parents/carers to be aware of the following:

  • Entry to sports day should be punctual and via the Marlow Road gate (next to the High School). Adults will leave via this exit also. The gate will be opened 5 minutes before the start of each session.

  • Each class will carry out their events in carousel around the field. Parents/Carers can follow and watch them from behind the designated area around the outside of the field.

  • For safety, we are unable to provide seating but adults are welcome to bring their own camping chair or blanket to sit on in the designated spectator area around the outside of the field.

  • Adults must not approach their child, before, during or after the events.  Should there be a need for medical help/comfort at any time we will invite you to a safe space to see your child.

  • There will be no toilets available to visitors (children or adults). School children will be able to access toilets supervised by staff.

  • As with all school events, please remember dogs are not allowed on site, smoking or vaping is also not permitted and no alcohol is to be brought on to site.

  • Should any visitor become injured on site this can be reported to the school office on 01473 741249, where you will need to give the affected person’s name and location and a member of the school’s First Aid team will be deployed to assist.

  • Parents/Carers may take photos of their child, but this must be for their own personal use and not be posted on social media. Please ensure that photos do not contain any other child or adult in them.

  • Once sports day has finished, visitors are asked to leave the site promptly and not to approach their child. As the sports day sessions are taking part during the school day, your child will remain with their class teacher and be dismissed in the usual way at the end of the school day.

  • We are hoping for sunshine so in line with our new Sun Safety Policy, please apply sunscreen before school and remember to send in top up sunscreen in a named bottle along with a named hat and water bottle.  The children need to come into school in their PE kit on their allocated sports day.

As with previous year’s, during this year’s sports day the children will be representing and competing in their houses. To promote and celebrate their houses, at the beginning of their sports day sessions, each class will walk to the field celebrating their house with flags, banners etc. We would also love to see as many of our parents/carers and spectators also getting involved, and celebrating your child’s house. Maybe you could wear their house colours, or make a small flag?
