25-09-2025 Toileting Needs in School

September 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

Whilst we encourage all our children to be dry when starting at Whitehouse Community Primary School, we recognise that there are a number of stages to mastering toilet training, and that our children may be at any stage when they join us.

Pull-ups

When children who wear pull-ups start school, an Intimate Care Plan (ICP) will be drawn up in partnership with the child’s parent/carer.  The ICP will detail how often the child’s pull-up will be routinely changed and how the child will be supported to develop independence. Parents/carers are requested to supply pull-ups and wipes; however, the school will keep a supply of spare pull-ups and wipes in case of emergencies. We would also suggest a set of spare clothes to be brought into school which can be used as and when needed.

Toileting Accidents

When children who do not wear pull-ups have a toileting accident (either soiling or wetting), we will endeavour to support them in changing themselves as quickly as possible.

In order for us to ensure your child is comfortable as quickly as possible after a toileting accident, please sign the slip below to allow us to support your child in changing.

The children’s wellbeing is a fundamental priority. Therefore, if we do not have your signed consent, we will need to telephone you which may cause delays in changing your child and making them comfortable again.  If we are unable to contact you quickly by telephone we will change your child in line with our Intimate Care Policy.

If it is felt that your child is very uncomfortable after a toileting accident or unwell we will contact you or your provided alternate contacts.

Please read the school Intimate Care Policy for further details including safeguarding WHCPS Policies | Whitehouse Community Primary School.

Kind regards

Miss Siddall

Headteacher

I agree that my child can be changed should s/he soil or wet themselves whilst at school.
