Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 304
Friday 28th March 2025
A Message from Miss Siddall
We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to attend parents/carers evening over the last two weeks to see the wonderful work your children have completed. Thank you for your support with this and I hope you found it useful to find out how you can help your children with their learning.
Next week is the last week of school so it’s nearly time for everybody to have a rest. Please remember that the project showcases happen again next week with a chance to see all of the children’s wonderful topic related work. These are straight after school (Tuesday for reception, year 2, year 4 and year 6 and Thursday for Nursery, year 1, year 3 and year 5). Thank you for your continued support.
Attendance for the previous week:
Class with the best attendance: Lizards (98.71%)
Awards

Our ‘Wonderful Week’ awards this year will be given as a recognition that the children have worked very hard in one of these areas: Courage, Perseverance, Reflection or Responsibility. This is shown in the colour coded lists below. We are so proud of our children at Whitehouse and their wonderful achievements. Well done to you all.

Assemblies
The theme of our assemblies for next week will be on ‘Using Good Manners when Eating’. (UNRC: Article 28 – I have the right to education). Have a little look at your child over the coming week to see what they have learnt and if they are using their new-found skills!
Celebrating our Children
As you know, we love to celebrate the achievements of our children and this week we heard about Seth and Maddie from Year 5, who performed in a show on Saturday on the Cornhill in Ipswich town centre. The show was called ‘Black Shuck’ and was based on the Suffolk mythical creature. Seth and Maddie performed with the Eastern Angles Theatre Company, where Seth was an antique dealer and Maddie a baker. How wonderful! We would love to have seen the show! Well done to both of you!
If your child has taken part in something or been in a competition please let us know by emailing us on parents@whcps.org as we love to see this and love to share on our newsletter!

Science Club
This half term, some of our Year 4 children have been having lots of fun at Science Club with Miss Ward. The children have enjoyed conducting a number of experiments; the favourite so far has definitely been creating Oobleck! They also raced boats using surface tension, learnt about magnets and layered different liquids, thinking about density. They have all enjoyed it immensely!
Year 1: Mother’s Day Cups
Our year 1 children have been very creative this week as they have worked in conjunction with Starbucks in readiness for Mother’s Day. The children were challenged to each decorate a Starbucks cup which would be displayed in their town centre coffee shop to recognise mothers and the wonderful things they do for all of us. Here you can see them on display. Why not pop in to the shop to have a look!
Year 1: Great Fire of London
Year 1 have been continuing their learning about the Great Fire of London, and this week were able to borrow a ‘topic box’ to see various artefacts and increase their topic knowledge. As you can see, everyone had great fun!
Year 5/6 Girls Football
Last Thursday, the Year 5/6 girls football team were back in league action as they played away to Heath Primary School. A number of last-minute absentees meant that the girls had to play the match, in warm conditions, with no subs! Undeterred, the girls worked extremely hard and gave 100% effort from the first to the final whistle. Throughout the match, the girls demonstrated some fantastic defensive work and really put pressure on the Heath players to win a number of tackles and dispossess the ball from their attacks. Unfortunately, a hard-low shot across goal and deflected shot saw Heath go into half time 2-0 ahead. Despite the half time score, the girls’ heads did not drop. Instead, they came out for the second half even more determined. As a result, the girls really took the game to Heath and were on the front foot for large spells of the second half creating a number of shooting opportunities for both Millie and Scarlett. Some very good defending by Lexi and Hannah, with some equally excellent saves from Mia prevented the Heath girls from adding to their goals during the second half. Despite the girls’ best efforts, and the increasing pressure and shots on the Heath goal, unfortunately, the match finished with a 2-0 win to Heath.
Despite the result, Mr Jordan was extremely proud of the team and the effort they showed throughout the match, especially with the girls having to play the entire match without any subs! A special mention goes to Mia for volunteering to play in goal and producing a number of very important saves throughout the match.
Ipswich and Suffolk School Games U11’s Girls Futsal Event
On Monday, Mr Jordan took seven of our Year 5/6 girls to represent Whitehouse in the School Games U11’s Girls 5v5 Futsal Event held at Ipswich Hockey Club. The event was extremely well attended with 100 girls coming together to take part in the event. The girls took part in the ‘compete’ section, which again due to its popularity, was split into two leagues in which seven schools in each league played against each other. The girls’ confidence really grew with each game as they got to grips with the 5-a-side format. During each of the games, the girls showed some pleasing passages of play and individual skills to attack their opponents’ goal. As a result, the girls created plenty of shooting opportunities scoring five goals throughout the event. The girls also worked well together to help defend and try to break up their opponents’ attacks, finished off with some super saves from Mia in goal. Mr Jordan was extremely proud of the girls’ effort and teamwork throughout each match during the day. A special mention goes to Scarlett who was voted by the rest of the team as the ‘player of the event’ for the team. Thank you to all the parents/carers who helped to transport the girls and stayed at the event to show their support to the team.
Parent/Carer Course: Fun with Maths
Please note the below course will be starting soon at Whitehouse CP School. This is aimed at parents/carers of children from Reception up to Year 4. Letters will be sent home shortly giving further details of how to book a space.
Comic Relief
A big thank you to all those of who kindly donated money last week for Comic Relief. We are thrilled to let you know we raised £428.49 which we know will be able to help some of the charities Comic Relief support.
Climate Action Plan
As you may be aware, all schools are required from July 2025 to have a Climate Action Plan in place. Throughout the year, you will note that we are beginning to put some of these actions into place. As part of this, from next week we will be asking children who bring packed lunches to school to take their lunch rubbish home with them. Children in school are also busy learning how to dispose of their food waste so this can be collected separately and composted. If you use one of the bins on site when picking up your children, we would ask that no food waste is put in these.
Keep a look out for other things we are doing in school to help us become more climate aware and increase the biodiversity of our site! We have some exciting things planned!
