A Message from Miss Siddall:

It has been an incredibly busy year and we are all so proud of everything the children have achieved. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the children for being enthusiastic learners, the parents for their continued support and the wonderful staff for their hard work and commitment. We would like to wish our very best to the Year 6 children who are heading off to their different High Schools. We would also like to say goodbye and good luck to the staff who are leaving us. We hope you all have a great summer break and we look forward to seeing the children back in school on Wednesday 3rd September.

Dinner and Breakfast Club Debt

Despite regular reminders, we still have some parents/carers who have not cleared their dinner debts.  Please make payment urgently via Arbor.  For those Year 6 children whose debts remain, the debt will be transferred to younger siblings and still requires payment.  If there is no sibling still at Whitehouse, please note these will be passed to the Trust who will be chasing for immediate payment.  In addition, we would also ask that any Breakfast Club debts are cleared urgently, again via Arbor.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Awards

As you may be aware, the children are encouraged to follow ‘The Whitehouse Way’ in school to help them in their learning and in becoming good citizens. Our ‘Wonderful Week’ awards this year will be given as a recognition that the children have worked very hard in one of these areas:  Courage, Perseverance, Reflection or Responsibility.  This is shown in the colour coded lists below. We are so proud of our children at Whitehouse and their wonderful achievements.  Well done to you all.

House Captain Elections

During this term, a number of our Year 5 children have been campaigning to become the next House Captains. After a successful application letter, the candidates then produced a video to explain why they would make a good House Captain and also their vision of how they would lead their respective houses. These videos were then shared with the whole school along with ballot papers for the children to cast their votes.  After a nervous wait for the candidates, the votes have been counted and the results are in! The elected House Captains are as follows:

Diamond House

Justin (Jaguars)

Ava (Jaguars)

Emerald House

Scarlett (Lizards)

Lona (Pandas)

Ruby House

Alle (Jaguars)

Lacie Mai (Pandas)

Sapphire House

Blake (Lizards)

Alivia (Lizards)

Well done to everyone who put themselves forward and to those who were elected.

Summer Fair

Ms Salmon would like to say a massive thankyou to those who attended the Summer fair. We are sure you will agree it was another huge success and it was lovely seeing so many of our children with their adults walking around with smiles on their faces. It takes months of planning and organising to hold such an event and Ms Salmon would like to thank the small PFA committee for all their help and also all the staff who volunteered to help on the day.  We managed to raise an impressive £1200.00 which will go towards improving our school for the children.  Thank you all for your wonderful support.

U9 Quadkids Event

On Wednesday 9th July, Ms Salmon and Mrs Pipe took ten Year 3/4 pupils to Northgate Sports Centre to take part in the U9 Quadkids Event. This is an annual athletics event which involves teams competing in a rotation of 4 separate athletics events made up of a 75m sprint, 400m race, Vortex Howler throwing and the standing long jump. It is always a very popular event in the sports calendar, and this year was no exception with 36 teams taking part. Again, each school was allocated an Olympic country to represent. Our pupils represented Argentina and took part in an exciting opening and closing ceremony, in which each team walked around the running track waving their flags and banners of their respective country. Ms Salmon and Mrs Pipe were extremely proud of the team’s performance and also their impeccable behaviour throughout the event. Ms Salmon would like to thank the parents/carers for providing transport and supporting the team during the event. Well done to all of the children who took part, Logan, Safa, Hadriel, Isaac, George, Andreja, Shyla, Channell, Maise and Nova.

In 4th place with 496 points was Sapphire.

In 3rd place with 554 points was Diamond.

In 2nd place with 600 points was Emerald.

And in 1st place with 638 points was Ruby!

New Diversity Project

As Whitehouse is proud to be an inclusive, multicultural school, we would like to introduce a new diversity project that will explore our different communities’ history, ethnicity and the linguistic range of our school.  We are striving to promote understanding and appreciation of different cultures, backgrounds and perspectives, so we would like to invite you to share your experiences.

Everyone is welcome to participate – whether you just came from another country/continent or you represent the 3rd generation, whether you fluently speak a few languages or you only know a few words in your distant family’s native language.  We want to hear about your heritage, follow your family’s journey, see the photos of you travelling, cooking something traditional or doing any activities specific to your culture.

If you would like to be part of our new project, please use the summer holiday to gather anything you would like to share and get in touch with Mrs Moore, who will be leading this, via parents@whcps.org.
