Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 353

Whitehouse Weekly Bulletin 353

Friday 19th June 2026

A Message from Miss Siddall:

It has been another busy week in school and many of the children have been enjoying getting out and about in warm weather. Y6 have been to Crucial Crew and Y3 have been visiting different locations along the River Deben. Thank you to all our families who attended this year’s reorganised sports day. The children really enjoyed taking part in all the events and we look forward to learning which House won overall. Thank you to Mr Jordan for once again organising the event so successfully. We still have lots to cover on the summer curriculum, and all the children will have an opportunity to meet their new teachers on Wednesday and Thursday next week so attendance at school remains crucial.

Attendance: Top 3 classes with the best attendance for week ending 12th June 2026

                            Toucans (100%)  Lizards (99%)  Ocelots (98%)

Well Done Toucans, 100% attendance is amazing!

               Whole School Attendance: 94%

A Message from Mrs Sharkey

Recently we have noticed that attendance and punctuality have started to dip a little.  A gentle reminder that the school gates close promptly at 8.55am.  Arriving on time helps children settle into their day and make the most of their learning.

Of course, I understand that there are times when children need to be absent due to illness or medical appointments.  If you ever have any concerns or would like advice, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.  Whenever possible, we kindly ask that appointments are arranged outside of school hours to minimise disruption to your child’s learning.

We value working in partnership with our families and are always here to help.  Whether you have a question, need some support or would simply like a chat, please know that I am always here to help. Thank you for your continued support!

Nursery Spaces Available for September

We are pleased to confirm we still have some spaces available for our popular Nursery in September.  We offer sessions from 8.30am to 11.30am each day (a total of 15 hours a week) and children can begin the term after they turn 3 years old.  If you are interested in enrolling your child please come to the main school office for an application form.

Awards

As you may be aware, the children are encouraged to follow ‘The Whitehouse Way’ in school to help them in their learning and in becoming good citizens. Our ‘Wonderful Week’ awards this year will be given as a recognition that the children have worked very hard in one of these areas:  Courage, Perseverance, Reflection or Responsibility.  This will be shown in the colour coded lists below. Well done to you all.

Dinner and Breakfast Club Debt

A reminder that we have a number of children who have debt for dinner money or breakfast club.  Please be aware that all debt MUST be cleared by the end of the summer term.  Please make prompt payment to the office or via Arbor.  If you are not sure what you owe, please speak to a member of the Office Team.

Free School Meal Forms

Can we remind all parents/carers if they have not returned the Free School Meal form which was sent home to please do so as soon as possible.  As you will be aware the Government announced a change to Free School Meals from September.  Those who already receive these, will now be checked once a year and we need the forms to confirm whether your child will still be able to receive them.  In addition, a lot more families will now become eligible from September.  By returning your form we can make a check to ensure no one is missing out on this entitlement.  If you need help to fill in the form please come to the school office or speak to Mrs Gotts, our Pastoral Lead.

Celebrating our Children

We are very pleased to celebrate more of our amazing children this week.  Firstly, we have Millie, who is Year 6, who we know loves to play football.  Millie recently had the opportunity to play in a pitch tournament at Portman Road with her team, the Leiston Lionesses.  We were excited to hear the team won the tournament and the cup!  They played 3 games and won them all and Millie scored in one of those games!  Well done Millie!

Next, we have siblings Ruby (Year 6), Effie (Year 5) and Bella (Year 2), who all took part in a recent dance show at The Ipswich Regent.  This was with SADPA (Suffolk Academy of Dance and Performing Arts).  What a wonderful opportunity.  Well done girls, we loved hearing how much you enjoyed the day!
