06-10-2023 Year 6 Martlesham RAF Museum Trip

6th October 2023

Martlesham Heath RAF Control Tower Visit – Year 6

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are writing to inform you about an exciting trip we have organised for year 6 next half-term, in connection with our history topic on World War 2.  We have booked to visit Martlesham Heath RAF control tower museum on Tuesday 7th November. During the visit, children will learn about the ‘Blitz’, Anderson shelters, look at real RAF artefacts from WW1 and WW2, and learn about the local area during the war.

The visits will take place within school time and usual school uniform should be worn. As some of the activities will take place outside, please ensure your child comes to school with a waterproof and warm coat. Appropriate footwear should also be worn. Your child will not need to take anything else with them on the day.

As the venue is not large, each class will visit separately. Below is the timetable to show timings for each class visit:

Tuesday 7th November

9:00 – 10:30

Toucans

10:30 – 12:00

Tigers

1:00 – 2:30

Chameleons

NB – please note that TOUCANS ONLY will need to arrive at school at 8:15 so they can leave at 8:30 in order to make a 9am start. Please send the children to the Marlow Road Hall.

The cost per child is a voluntary contribution of £2.50, which covers coach travel and admission. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience history ‘hands on’.

Please note consent and payment can be made via Arbor, or alternatively please complete the attached form and return to the office with payment.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind Regards

Mr Johnson, Mr Taylor and Miss Payne
