Arrangements for September 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you and your family are continuing to remain safe and well.

Schools Covid-19 Operational Guidance

Staff have been very busy planning for the next academic year following the latest Covid-19 operational guidance. The guidance published is much shorter than previous versions as stringent restrictions on everyone’s day to day lives are eased. The key advice is that bubbles will not be in place within schools and NHS Track and Trace will undertake contact tracing.

There are four main control measures that schools will need to follow:

  • Ensure good hygiene
  • Maintain appropriate cleaning regimes
  • Keep occupied spaces well ventilated
  • Follow public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases

Other points of the guidance are:

  • School attendance is mandatory
  • Schools should have plans for remote education

Please note this guidance could change over the summer break if cases of Covid-19 continue to rise.

Dropping off and collecting children from school

In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, we will continue to limit the number of adults on site by requesting that only one adult per child (Year R to Year 5) comes onto site to drop off and collect.

Year 6 children are expected to walk from the gate to their classroom by themselves.  At the end of the day they can be collected from the classroom by one adult or with written consent, can walk home alone or meet a parent/carer at a sibling’s classroom.  Please inform the school in writing if you give consent for your child to be released from class to walk home alone / walk to another classroom.

Westbourne children are allowed to pick up their siblings, up to and including Year 5, but their friends are not allowed to accompany them as we want to ensure the school playground does not become overcrowded. Westbourne children are not allowed on site to meet their parents/carers who may be picking up a child.

Additional Information

  • When the children return to school in September, please ensure that they have any necessary medical equipment with them, for example inhalers or Epi-pens.  Please inform the office and their class teacher to ensure the appropriate plan is in place.
  • Breakfast clubs will continue, all children (YR-Y6) need to be signed into school at Marlow Road. Spaces must be pre-booked.
  • Children will need to bring their own filled water bottle into school, this needs to be clearly labelled. We will re-fill water for the children during the day.
  • Children will wash their hands regularly during the day, such as when they arrive, before and after break and lunch, and after they have been to the toilet. Posters have been displayed around the school to remind everyone.
  • Windows and doors will be open as much as possible to ensure good ventilation.
  • Regular cleaning will take place across the school day
  • Children will wear school uniform unless it is a PE day when they will need to attend school in their school PE kit - children will be notified in September of the days).

We hope you have a happy and safe summer break and we look forward to welcoming the children back in September.

With best regards
